HOT DOGS ON AUGUST 11
We obviously like hot dogs. Most chileans do. We have them for dinner quite often. and we are always in the quest for good dog buns, the kind you get fresh from a bakery, not the stuff in a bag in a store shelf. We like to try all different kinds of toppings like melted cheese, tomato, oregano and olive oil or chopped olives that we call “napolitana”, or caramelized onions and crumbled roquefort<: the combination we try most often is the “completo” chilean style: sauerkraut, chopped tomatoes, some times chopped onions and cilantro and a lace of mayonnaise. ( mustard is extra). if it had mashed avocado, we’d call it “italiano”, I guess because tomato, avocado and mayonnaise resemble the colors of the italian flag, but it could be called “mexicano” or the “iranian” for that matter.
