STEAK AND MASHED POTATOES ON JULY 30
These were two nice big and thick rib eye steaks. they were to big for two to fit in a pan so i tried to sear one side of them one steak at a time and then put them on a baking sheet, salted and peppered them and threw them in to a 325º oven. big mistake. I don’t know what was I thinking. I must have been drunk. it never browned right in the pan in the first place, and it never browned right in the oven ether. at the end it was a little to well done, almost but not totally dry. i should have known better how to treat such a nice cut of beef. i also sautéed some white button mushrooms on the same pan with a little butter which were Ok but not remarkable. The mashed potatoes were very good though: fluffy and creamy with butter and sour cream. and a nice ripe summer tomato that we didn’t need to work to much on. it was a very simple dinner and i ruined the main player.
