JAPANESE NOODLES ON JULY 31 / AT ZUZU

NOODLE02

Our friend Mike Schultz is leaving NY and moving to Oregon. we got together to wish him farewell and we went for dinner to this little restaurant close to our place called Zu-Zu ramen. a noodle soup place. I ordered the signature dish which the restaurant is named after. it was a delicious smokey broth that tasted pretty much like liquid bacon, over wheat noodles with some vegetables, like bamboo shoots and scallions, a nice slab of smoked pork belly which is just like a giant slice of soft uncured bacon, topped with a slow cooked egg. I enjoyed this very much. it was $14.

Claudia got a red curry and shrimp soup over noodles. lots of fresh basil and other vegetables, a few shrimps swimming in the tomato and lemongrass flavored broth and a soft cooked egg as well. it was very good, but i liked the bacon soup better. Claudia’s soup was $ 11.
